The National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) promotes education in the field of orthotics and prosthetics and raises the standards of education in the field. This includes working in cooperation with the Commission on Accreditation
of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) for the accreditation of orthotist/prosthetist and technician level education within the O&P profession. CAAHEP is a nationally recognized non-profit organization that accredits
educational programs in 23 allied health disciplines.
The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) is the national certifying and accrediting body for the orthotic and prosthetic professions. The public requires and deserves assurance that the persons providing orthotic and prosthetic
services and care are qualified to provide the appropriate services, and it was on this basis that the ABC was established as a credentialing organization.
The Pedorthic Foundation supports education and training for students who are seeking pedorthic certification, credentialed pedorthists and retail footwear professionals/employees through its scholarship programs. Education and continuing education help
ensure the future of the pedorthic profession and benefit everyone who uses pedorthic services.
