Learn to Shoot Again with HAVA
There is no better motivation than success. None of these men have permitted their injuries to limit them.
Who: Richard Cicero, HAVA and our team of instructor candidates
What: Adaptive Shooting Instruction Program – Learn to Shoot Again
When: Current
Where: Traveling Mobile Training Team (MMT) of Severely Combat Injured Instructors
Veterans with major injuries, who beat the odds, learned to shoot and are going to be trained and Certified Instructors.
This program will be of no cost to the students for travel, attendance, use of weapons or ammo, lodging and meals. With the partners of HAVA, the firearms industry, and Veterans organizations these cost will be absorbed. This will open another door that has been closed to so many for too long. This will be an organized school with articulated lesson plans and qualifications for pistol, braced firearms, rifles and shotguns. If the student has one hand that works and the motivation to get out there, we can train him / her. Following the school they will have the skills to return to sport shooting, hunting or just have another skill returned to facilitate the building of their confidence.
Our Instructor candidates are members of all branches and have all levels of injuries, but meet the same standards required of every other instructor.
There is no better motivation than success. None of these men have permitted their injuries to limit them. They have learned to function within their life changes and excel beyond the abilities of the average shooter in every aspect.
With the number of injured service members throughout the country we can conduct MMT’s reaching most communities. The final goal is to provide a much needed resource to injured members and build on success. What has started as a local idea is growing into a national resource. Join the team and help it grow.
